First place at the all-Russian Ujin hackathon

Project brief: “Smart eco mode for Alice: Automatic energy optimization without sacrificing comfort”

Smart Home users actively buy devices but don't optimize their energy consumption. That leads to:

High electricity bills. Especially during peak hours, when tariffs are at their highest. Wasteful use of resources. Devices run idle when they aren't needed. The hassle of manual control. Users are too lazy or too busy to constantly switch dozens of appliances on and off on a schedule.

Project details:

We built a “Smart scenario for Alice” — an “Energy Manager” that analyzes electricity consumption by smart devices and automatically optimizes usage during peak hours.

Technology stack:

What makes our product special:

“We implemented predictive analytics that learns from the user's habits,” says Aleksei Petrov, the team's tech lead. “The algorithm forecasts periods of activity and switches non-critical devices to energy-saving mode without sacrificing comfort.”

The prize:

1st place: 500,000 RUB

An internship certificate at Ujin for every team member

Mentorship from Alice senior developers

About the Hackathon:

The event was held with support from the Alice and Smart Home team as part of Perm's preparations for the “Youth Capital of Russia 2024” title. Over 48 hours we worked on real cases from Ujin.

“Winning a hackathon like this is not only about the prizes, but also about recognition of our professional level,” notes Maria Sidorova, the team's backend developer. “What matters most is that we were solving problems that will actually be used in the Smart Home ecosystem.”

Thank you to the organizers, the Perm Krai Sports Programming Federation, and everyone who cheered us on!
