A mobile construction app with AI and computer vision: from idea to release and a win at an international hackathon
The Tools team won first place at the international LDT competition hosted by the Mayor of Moscow, held as part of the annual Leaders of Digital Transformation festival at the Lomonosov cluster.

About the Hackathon:
The core mission of the LCT Hackathon is to accelerate digital transformation in key sectors of the economy and public administration, and to create a space where young specialists and experienced professionals can turn their ideas into reality, get industry support, and bring their solutions to the real market.
Project brief: “Interactive Electronic General Construction Control Journal”
What makes our product special:
“Our system replaces paper journals and brings all construction participants together in one service. It records work, materials, and remarks with photos, timestamps, and geolocation, making it possible to control the site transparently and in real time. With the mobile app and web service, you can work even offline, and all data is synced and available to the client, contractor, and inspector.”
CEO Aleksei Feoktistov
Project details:
Our project started as a simple hackathon case — turn a paper construction work journal into a convenient digital tool, and then add materials control and remarks on linear/non-linear sites. In just two weeks, we already had a working app published on RuStore and the App Store, and we were walking onto the stage of the international hackathon hosted by the Mayor of Moscow — Leaders of Digital Transformation — where we took first place.
Here's how we went from idea to victory.

Technology stack:
The Problem: construction the old way
Even in 2025, a significant share of contractors still keep journals by hand, and reports live in Excel files on flash drives.
That's how control turns into chaos:
• it's impossible to track real work on site in real time;
• inspectors get information with a delay;
• acts and photos get lost, and approvals stretch into weeks.
That's when we realized: the industry is missing a single digital space where all participants — contractors, clients, inspectors — can work in one interface.
The Idea: a journal that works like a chat
Even in 2025, a significant share of contractors still keep journals by hand, and reports live in Excel files on flash drives.
That's how control turns into chaos:
• it's impossible to track real work on site in real time;
• inspectors get information with a delay;
• acts and photos get lost, and approvals stretch into weeks.
That's when we realized: the industry is missing a single digital space where all participants — contractors, clients, inspectors — can work in one interface.
Research: customer interviews with real builders
• contractors (private and municipal sites),
• technical supervision engineers,
• inspectors from supervisory authorities.
The interviews quickly showed that everyone has their own priorities:
• contractors want to save time on paperwork;
• technical supervision wants a way to systematize photos and acts;
• the inspector simply needs proof that they were actually on site.
Based on the interviews, we formed an MVP concept: three roles, clear permissions, NFC | GPS verification, and a single journal that lives like a chat.
Design: simplicity instead of 2010s interfaces
• a list of journals;
• the work schedule;
• current violations;
• a photo report by date.
For inspectors — a simplified mode: you walk in, log a violation, attach a photo, pick a category from the classifier, and save.
Foremen and contractors get a notification and a way to report the fix. Everything looks like a living app, not a bureaucratic system.

Development: fast, reliable, and cross-platform
2 weeks for every stage of implementation + publication
We chose a stack that let us assemble a stable app quickly:
• Frontend: React Native — one app for iOS and Android
• Backend: Python FastAPI + PostgreSQL.
• Storage: S3-compatible cloud for photos and documents.
• Geolocation and offline: local caches and sync on reconnect.
From the start we laid down an architecture ready to scale — modular APIs, CRM integration, and separate containers for microservices. We also want to thank our friends at Yandex for providing a free API to build this case.

Features: not just another inspection app
Each journal can be kept from a template, with photos and signatures added.
Key features:
• Photo documentation and acts with automatic timestamps and coordinates.
The site is created as polygons; verification uses NFC tags when GPS is unstable, to confirm presence on site
• Violation classifier — the inspector picks a type, and the system records everything automatically.
Work progress control — the Foreman (site supervisor) submits daily or full work stages to the Client
Materials control — using ML (machine learning), the system reads consignment notes (TTN) and product passports, making it possible to control 100% of material volume on site.
• Notifications and approvals — participants receive push alerts.
• Reports and export — a document for the client can be generated in one click.

Launch: from MVP to the App Store and RuStore
We optimized the interface for weak connectivity, added offline mode and local saving.
The result is a full-fledged app published on the App Store and RuStore.
Now any contractor can download it and keep journals from a smartphone, and the client can monitor the process through the web version.
Business model and audience
• Basic (5,000 RUB/month) — general journal, documents, photo documentation.
• Standard (15,000 RUB/month) — schedules and reports added.
• Professional (30,000 RUB/month) — CRM integrations.
• Corporate (50,000 RUB/month) — API and unlimited sites.
• On-Premise (from 500,000 RUB/year) — installed on the client's servers.
For small businesses it's a time-saving tool; for large developers — a full digital ecosystem for site control.

Hackathon: how we took first place
We didn't just show code — we showed a real solution to an industry problem.
The jury noted:
• thoughtful UX adapted to real construction sites;
• a GPS verification system that rules out “paper walkthroughs”;
• ML tracking of incoming materials
Full work control involving every construction participant.
The result — first place, 1,000,000 RUB as the prize, and new connections with leaders in the current niche who took the initiative to support and grow the project further!

Scaling and the future
In parallel, we're preparing an API for external services and a white-label version for regional administrations. We want our tool to become the de facto standard for digital control in landscaping and construction.
Results
But along the way we realized we had done much more: we created a new model of interaction among all industry participants.
Now inspectors don't lose data, contractors work faster, and clients see the real picture in one click.
And we proved that even in a conservative field like construction, we can deliver a level that industry leaders will appreciate.
